FAQ

The registration and ticket system is run by the EJA who will issue you with confirmation of your ticket sale.

1. Can I sell my ticket?

Yes you can, but please be sure to contact us straight away to make sure we have all the necessary information. Ticket transfer will incur a £10 / €10 admin fee charged to the person taking the ticket.

2. I am under 18,  can I attend the event without my parents?

If you are under 18 at the time of the event you will need to get your parents consent to attend. You can download the form during the registration process. If you are under 16 you will also need an adult guardian to take responsibility for you.

1. When will the site open?

The event will officially start at around 10am on Saturday 3rd August 2019.

2. Can I come early or stay longer?

If you turn up a little early there will be a small area outside of the main arena that you will be able to pitch your tent. (Max 1 or 2 days early) You will not be able to access the main area unless you are on the list of volunteers & suppliers. After the event finish time if you need to stay longer you will need to move your tent from the interior area out on to the small area outside the main arena. Again only for 1 day maximum. There will be toilets & water but no other facilities.

3. When will the site close?

We need the site to be fully clear of everyone by 16:00 on Sunday 11th August 2019

4. Can I pay in Euro at the site?

No - We will be operating a majority cashless system at EJC. All prices will be displayed in Pounds Sterling (£). All food and drink retailers will require you to pay with your wristband, however the Juggling Traders will also accept cash and in some cases debit cards. You will be able to use either pounds cash or your debit / credit card to load cash onto the RDIF wrist band. There will be more information available on this system, once it all set up.

5. Will there be access to the Internet on the EJC site?

Yes. The area is well served with 4G and there is also Wi-Fi available from the site for a small fee.

6. Will there be somewhere secure to lock my valuable items?

We are investigating the possibility of hiring in some lockers. There will likely be an additional charge. This will be updated once we know more.

7. Will I be able to charge my phone / tablet / computer?

Yes we will have a charging area available at the Registration / Info tent. Items are left at your own risk. We will have many USB sockets for charging but if you need a full plug and if you are from outside the UK, be sure to remember to bring a converter with you. There are lots of electric sockets around the site, please use these with caution and do not leave your valuables unattended. Again you leave items unattended at your own risk and the EJC will not be responsible for any damage or theft.

8. What kind of sockets do you use in the UK?

The UK uses 240V 3 pin plugs.

1. Are camp fires allowed?

No. No fire is allowed on the camp site. If you wish to play with fire (rather than cook with it) then please use the designated fire area.

2. Can I cook at my tent?

We have a no open fire policy. There will be several camp kitchens set up around the site. At these sites there will be tables, chairs and sinks with running water. Perfect places to cook your food, eat and clear up after. Always be sensible and please do not cook inside your tents.

3. Will there be food I can eat at EJC?

There will be several different vendors on site, who will be supplying a wide variety of foods. The will also be a small Village Shop which will sell items like fresh bread, milk, cereal etc. The Village Shop is run by the EJC so your support for it is encouraged and very welcome.

4. Where can I camp?

The site this year is huge and the camping will be on lovely well drained grass. If you look at the map you will see we have sectioned the areas out so that you will be able to make arrangements in advance with your friends on where to pitch your tent. We really encourage the idea of making small camping communities.

5. Can I bring my caravan / live in vehicle?

Yes there will be an area that is hard standing or if you prefer you can pitch your vehicle on the grass too this means that you can have your awning out and also be near to friends in tents. Cars must be moved to the car park as soon as you have sited your caravan. If you plan to sleep in your car then you will be unable to take it off the site until the end of the event. To help us with planning if you are bringing. a live in vehicle please reserve a pitch from our shop.

6. Will there be Electric Hook Up available?

Yes there will be, for an additional charge. Please go to the shop page to order your pitch.

7. Can I rent a tent for EJC?

Yes, this is being provided by Zip - the pre-pitched pad company,  they will have your tent set up for you arrival.

8. Are there places off site to stay?

Yes, however please be aware that the site is quite some distance from the main town and the walk is alongside a busy dual carriageway. The nearest hotel is about 3 minutes away by car, which is about 20- 25 minutes walk. There is no public transport to the site.

9. Are dogs allowed at the EJC site?

We have made an amendment to the Dog rule. You may bring your dog but you must have had approval from the main organiser, keep the dog on a lead at all times and you will not be permitted into any structure with your dog.

10. Where could I hire a camper van from?

There are a couple of local companies that will hire out camper vans or caravans.  Southwell Motorhome hire or Costock Caravans. It is the more pricey option though as at this time of the year it may well set you back close to £1000.

1. What’s the weather like in the UK, does it really rain all the time?

Contrary to popular belief, it DOES NOT rain every day in England or in the rest of the UK! However, it is always advisable to bring some type of waterproof clothing and keep yourself psychologically prepared! The overall climate in England is called temperate maritime. This means that it is mild with temperatures not much lower than 0ºC in winter and not much higher than 32ºC in summer. It also means that it is damp and is subject to frequent changes. Britain is an island country and the surrounding sea gives England a varied climate.

We never know what the weather will be like from one day to the other. It can be sunny one day and rainy the next. As we have such a variable climate changing from day to day, it is difficult to predict the weather. In general we have warm summers and cool winters. Our summers are cooler than those on the continent, but the winters are milder. July and August are normally the warmest months in England. In brief bring warm clothing for the evenings and summer clothing for the day.

2. Do I need a visa or any other document to enter the UK?

If you are a citizen of the EU, at the time of writing this, you don’t need a visa or any other document to come to the UK. You will require a valid Passport. The UK has lots of different agreements with many countries - check here to find out what you need -  If you need an invitation to obtain a visa, contact Jane on [email protected] and she will send you whatever documentation you need from us.

3. How will Brexit affect me?

There still much uncertainty about Brexit however nothing is going to happen until at least October 31st. So until then the UK is still a part of the EU with all the same rules.

4. Where can I smoke and not smoke?

Smoking inside all buildings is prohibited. This also includes all of the tents & marquess at the EJC. You can smoke in the open air, however, please be responsible with your discarded cigarettes.

5. Is drinking allowed in public places?

Only people over 18 can drink in public, except in areas of towns where Public Space Protection Orders are in place. A Public Space Protection Order, or PSPO, is a special decree that allows police to stop people from drinking in a certain area. There is no issue within the EJC venue and please be considerate when out in Newark town centre.

6. How old must you be to purchase alcohol or cigarettes in the UK?

18 years old.

We have a Challenge 25 policy for alcohol. If you don't look 25 or older you will be asked tro produce ID. For example either your Passport, Driving license with picture or Student Union picture ID.

7. Is drug possession legal in the UK?

No it is not legal. The possession of drugs is illegal in the UK and can result in imprisonment. If you need to read more click here. Anyone caught in possession, taking or dealing drugs will be removed from the site and no refund issued.

8. What’s the currency in the UK? Can I pay in Euro?

The currency is the pound sterling. You will not be able to spend your Euro’s in the UK and must get them exchanged. Whist at the EJC site we will be running a cashless site which you will be able to top up with your debit card or UK Pound Sterling only.
