Western Skills

Whips & Knife Workshops

We are delighted to say that the lovely Pete Gamble will be co-ordinating the Western Skills Village for the the EJC 2019.

We have knife and axe throwing in the capable hands of Alan K Parish, Roger Arnay and Mark Bond and the fantastic team from the Essex Back Yard Thowers, who will teach you from beginner up to competition standard.  If you fancy a go at the World Knife Throwing Championships, which will be held on the site at the end of the week, then please scroll further down the page to find out how to enter.

Mark is also offering his very popular Archery range as well. In addition to all of these great activities we have a whole host of workshops and talented tutors lined up for whip cracking, lasso and gun spinning on offer every day from Beginners to Advanced with Master classses already confirmed from renowned international performers with more news on that to come.

We will have freestyle practice spaces inside and out to work on your routines and performance workshops to share and learn new ideas. It is an agricultural showground so don't expect shiny indoor sports hall but they are big and blessed with a slight homely scent of contented stock.

Plus, thanks to Ladislav Šín we will have an international competition practice area so you can prepare for The European Whip Cracking Chanmpionships which will be held later in the week.

9 days of Western Skills fun, bring it on!!
